Nice Weekend

I started last weekend off with a awesome evening Friday. My dear cousin, Heather, came to visit. We had planned to grab some pizzas, get on the couch, watch some movies or something. Well as usual, my house is Grand Central Station on the weekends, so I'm glad we picked up more than one pizza. It was nice though. My brother and SIL came by with Levi. So she got to hold him for the first time. And we all really enjoyed the evening.
Next morning came early. Ryan, our nephew, stayed with us Friday night too, so that he could go Crabbin' with us in the morning. DH had to work Saturday so Charlie and I took the boys. As soon as we got there, had five strings in the water, bam, bam, bam!! They were biting. Those boys had a ball. Then it came. Nothing. Around 2pm it picked up again, but by then I was done. And when I say done I mean..... I forgot the sunscreen!!!! It was hot and sticky and the boys had lost interest. It was time to ride. I sure wish I had their energy. When we got home they jumped in the pool, the adults cleaned and steamed the crabs ( me, not included) and I crashed on the couch at 8pm!!!

Keeping busy sure does help with this wait. We have decided to do the pool thing this weekend. Hoping that the next one I 'll be doing some shopping for our Sophie!!!

The menu for this weekend is:

Grilled Chicken and Rabbit
Potatoed, chicken salad
Baked Beans
Pig Pickin' Cake

Since I'm working at half day Saturday the last three can be prepared ahead of time. That way I'm in the pool too instead of the Kitchen!!

NoT Much

Not a whole lot going on this week. Just taking it easy. Razz and I are kicking back so that I don't hit that toe again.

I've been thinking about the kinds of things I'd like to get for Sophie while we are in China. Pearls, Jade, a Chop with her name on it, butterfly hangings, the list goes on and on. I really hope we are able to do some shopping. We'll have to take our cue from Miss Sophie. The main focus is getting to know our new daughter. You kind of picture the way things will go in your mind. And yes I know it usually doesn't turn out quite like we imagine it. Some days, or really most days I am numb, but then this overwhelming amount of excitement takes over. It's July 24th, in just two months time, we could be on the way home with our little ones. Is it really happening? Could we be this close to the end of this journey? Could we be this close to the beginning of an even greater one? The numbness is starting to wear off!!

Congrats Andy and Liz!

We've just been keeping busy. It's the best thing to do while we await arrival of the next batch of referrals. Still gun shy, I'm trying not to think about it alot.

This past weekend we attended a wedding. She's been a friend of my husband's family as long as I can remember. Liz and her new hubby have been dating a couple of years. They really look good together and I couldn't be happier for her. I think they are both on the same page, ya know. After the wedding, there was good food, good conversation, and good music. DH and I don't get out a lot so we enjoyed seeing everyone and catching up on current events.

Right before the wedding, I stumped my toe. Now normally that's no big deal, right? That's what I thought. But this thing would not stop hurting. About two hours later the swelling gets worse, My little toe is purple and across the top of my foot is turning black. I have never stumped a toe that "good" before. WOW!!! So , I'm hobbling around this week. Looking kinda funny. If it is broke, there's not much you can do for a toe anyway. So, Sunday we just chilled around the house. Had some company. Got in the pool a couple of hours. (which felt good to my foot).

Next weekend we're set to go crabbin'. I love watching the kids catch em'. They are so funny and get so excited! Hope I remember the camera. Then we're either gonna do a pool party the 2nd or the 9th. Trying to decide which weekend would be the best. We haven't inflated the slide at all this year, so it's about time.

I am working on Sophie's Care Package. I still need to pick up a few things. And take some close up pictures of DH and I for the Cube. Here's what I have so far.

I found this Children's Shop in Greenville the week we were on vacation. Oh man, I had a ball! I was thinking we might be in Guangzhou sometime in September so it might still be a little warm there. Here are few outfits I bought. And if they don't fit, oh well. It was great therapy!

Here is an adorable taggy I found in there. I had to have it!!!

Just Thinking Out Loud

It's the middle of July. Still no information on how or if the Olympics will affect IA. You would think if it was to have any impact we would have heard something by now. I browse RQ forums daily and it really bothers me to hear so many agency's saying different things regarding travel. There are some June referrals that haven't received TA's yet. There are some that have TA's that won't be traveling until September. Our agency's June babies were held by their new families yesterday! Sometimes I wonder if it just depends on your agency's "connections" when it comes to travel. I am very satisfied with our agency. They do not control the wait or any of the operations of the CCAA. They are very much involved with the orphanages in China. I'm just ready for this part of the ride to be over.

Fortune Cookies

Just had to share. Today I went to China King for lunch. Here is what my fortune read:

"The wheel of good fortune is finally turning in your direction!"

Sounds good to me!!

We're Baaaack!!!!

Hey everybody! We had a great vacation. It was soooo nice. The water was clear and calm. There was a little breeze. DH turned into a lobster on day 1. After that he stayed under the pier for the rest of the week. Staying at the pier was the bomb!! A couple of days our truck never left the parking lot. There were shops nearby and we ate at the restaurant in the pier a few times. It was just a very relaxing vacation. I think it's the first one we've ever been on that I never cooked. I mean not one meal!! The last two days we had some visitors. Gave DH someone to "play" with.

The fireworks were nice. They shot them right off the pier. Manteo has a better display, but again, we didn't have to go anywhere. We decided to drive home after the fireworks. I was missing my babies like crazy. Saturday we got up and drove to my uncle's for a pig pickin'. It was nice to see everyone. Wish I had a few extra days just to stay home. Oh well.

Looks like I could not have picked a better week to go on vacation. Had I been home, I would have been miserable. Constantly checking RQ for some info. For those of you wondering, they only got through January 25th this month. So, should we be in next month? Yes we should. But only God knows.
