Congrats Andy and Liz!

We've just been keeping busy. It's the best thing to do while we await arrival of the next batch of referrals. Still gun shy, I'm trying not to think about it alot.

This past weekend we attended a wedding. She's been a friend of my husband's family as long as I can remember. Liz and her new hubby have been dating a couple of years. They really look good together and I couldn't be happier for her. I think they are both on the same page, ya know. After the wedding, there was good food, good conversation, and good music. DH and I don't get out a lot so we enjoyed seeing everyone and catching up on current events.

Right before the wedding, I stumped my toe. Now normally that's no big deal, right? That's what I thought. But this thing would not stop hurting. About two hours later the swelling gets worse, My little toe is purple and across the top of my foot is turning black. I have never stumped a toe that "good" before. WOW!!! So , I'm hobbling around this week. Looking kinda funny. If it is broke, there's not much you can do for a toe anyway. So, Sunday we just chilled around the house. Had some company. Got in the pool a couple of hours. (which felt good to my foot).

Next weekend we're set to go crabbin'. I love watching the kids catch em'. They are so funny and get so excited! Hope I remember the camera. Then we're either gonna do a pool party the 2nd or the 9th. Trying to decide which weekend would be the best. We haven't inflated the slide at all this year, so it's about time.

I am working on Sophie's Care Package. I still need to pick up a few things. And take some close up pictures of DH and I for the Cube. Here's what I have so far.

Fortune Cookies

Just had to share. Today I went to China King for lunch. Here is what my fortune read:

"The wheel of good fortune is finally turning in your direction!"

Sounds good to me!!

Passing Time

I'm trying to be constructive and not think about referrals.
Here's a picture of the pool on Memorial Day Weekend. It was yuck! Last fall I was being a bit of a penny pincher and wanted my winter cover to make it another year. (Needless to say I'll be buying a new one this year.) Anyway I've had openings like this before and usually have to spend a few bucks more on chemicals to get things back where they need to be. Well I found a new product, Green to Clean , it works great and cost 1/3 of the price of the stuff I get here at the Pool Shop. In just a few days we were swim ready!!

I also said goodbye to an old friend this weekend. I still can't believe how attached you can get it things. We finally let the Bayliner go. This was my dad's boat. Given to us right after we finished the shelter like 9 years ago. This boat holds alot of memories for me. I was eleven years old when we got this boat. I remember watching the ponies swim from the island to the mainland, all those 4th of July's spent watching fireworks, skiing, fishing. It was hard to see it go, but it hasn't seen the river in two years. DH can't ski anymore because of his back. He mainly fishes and he has a boat for that. So our reasoning was we really didn't want it to just sit there and go down.(BTW, hadn't been cranked in two yrs. started right up!) And by the time Sophie is ready to learn we will be looking a getting a newer one anyway. (DH wants a fish and ski)

13 Years

It's kinda weird. I really can't explain it. Sometimes I feel like the time has flown. Have we really been married 13 whole years? But on the other hand it's like we've been together forever. And we kinda have. I started a diary in 1988. That's 20 years ago! It's all about DH. How much I love him, how mad I am at him, whether or not he won his ball game. Oh I was in deep even back then!! It's really cool though, to be able to seat back with the love of your life and reminisce. He remembers the first time I jumped "the hill", (dirt bike, 13yo) I remember him and his friends slinging off that rope at the sand hole.(not me) We've shared so much together. Good and bad. And after 13years of marriage I can honestly say, I still love that man! It's like the pastor says "Marriage is not to be entered into lightly". Oh how I agree. A marriage has to be "kept up." If ya know what I mean. There are times you just don't have the energy or the time. We need to make it. Don't take your spouse for granted. Let them know how much you appreciate what they do. The everyday routine things that you don't think about. Oops, I've started rambling!!

Thinking Out Loud

I'm feeling a little antsy. Wondering what the next cutoff will be. After making vacation plans for July, it just kinda hit me. We are two to three months away from seeing our daughter's face. Tears come. Are we really finally there? This seems surreal. I am so ready to see how far we get this month. CCAI is still saying they "hope" to see ours in July. I'm still thinking August, but hey, that's only three months away. If they get past the 13th , I can see July happening. May had a big batch in 07'. (I hate using the word "batch") Maybe we'll get a repeat. I know I'm rambling this morning, but I'm gonna be a Momie!! For real!
The Spanish Blog is saying they will know the cutoff early next week. They are expecting referrals to be mailed before the May Holiday. So We may start seeing those little faces by the end of next week!!

Ocean Front It Is

The decision has been made. We'll be staying right on the Fishing Pier! DH can do his night fishing while I sleep comfortably in a bed!!! Last year we did the camping thing, learned my lesson. No camping unless we are headed west!! This will be great! We haven't really done anything major in the past few years because we thought China was gonna be our big "vacation". Check this out, we are thinking August for our referral. Referrals come in once a month, typically towards the beginning. After three years of waiting, not planning a big vacation, watch us get a early referral and have to come home to sign the acceptance. ( it needs to be signed and overnighted back.) Oh yeah, that's the plan!!! I'd be home in a heartbeat!!! (it's only what 1 1/2hrs?)

Dora Mae

Last Sunday my great grandmother past away. I only saw her once a year, she was a hand full. She was my last living grandparent. I guess since she wasn't a part of my everyday life it's harder to believe she's gone. She had five children, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. What a legacy! She loved her garden, wonder if that's where I get it from? And was loved very much.
My azeala's are bloomin' Grandma!

Sound Side or Ocean View?

That is the question! I'm having a very hard time deciding which one we would enjoy better. Sound side has it's own dock. We could bring the Hydro Sport and the guys could do a little deep sea fishing. Plus we can see the fireworks from the deck.
OR........ Ocean view. Right there, where you can run in and out during the day. Hear the waves at night. I just can't make up my mind. I'll give it a couple of days.

Life Lock

When I got home last night, long day, there was a message for me from our credit card company. "Mrs. Foy, there has been a suspicious charge trying to go through your account. Please contact us at your earliest convince." WHAT!?! So I call them back ASAP, only to find out someone is trying to charge a plane ticket to Ethiopia! My CC company did not accept the charge and that card has been canceled. I have always tried to be careful. The last transaction I made was to Walking Rock Farms, Sophie's carrier, and I ordered it over the phone b/c I was not so sure about the security of their site. ( not bashing the site or anything, that's just me) Well earlier, I had been contemplating on getting some kind of protection. Identity theft is huge now a days. Well not "thinking" about it anymore. Doing It!! The company is called Life Lock. Montel Williams did a show on this a month or so ago. I'm sold now!

Rain, Rain, Rain

Now, I hate to complain, after the drought that we have had, BUT com'on. Last week was such a tease. I want more sunshine! Looks like we might see some Thursday. Well, March really did come in like a lion this year, so I guess here comes those April Showers. We did plant some Azaleas, Japanese Maples, and Gardenias Saturday, so all this wetness should make them happy. I really hope they make it. We put a huge (taller than me) gardenia by the bedroom windows. That should smell wonderful this summer. My azaleas are starting to bloom, I can't wait to see all that color. Spring is one of my favorite times of the year!!!

Memories

So, Daddy was cleaning out the old office this weekend and found another old shoe box full of pictures. My grandaddy loved taking pictures and boy I'm I glad he did. This box was more of the 80's. It brought back so many memories. Ironically this weekend, everyone was telling stories about when they were 7, 8, 9 years old and I could not even picture myself at that age, nor could I tell you what I was doing then. Now, I remember! Bike riding, hullahoops, playing pretend!!! That's what we were doing!!! I remember the grapevine and pear tree. Oh yeah and climbing the Silver Maple. Those were the days. We would pick wild flowers and Imogene would fryem' in the pan. (nasty) But we did it anyway. The green grass in the field, the blue sky, swimming at Sans Souci. It was public then. Karla and I used to go crawdad fishin'. We'd take the canoe down that old canal and never even thought about a snake or nothing!! Man, I'm gettin' teary eyed now. It seems like a life time ago!

Stressed!!

OK, so we all have it to some degree. And Lord knows I've had my share this year. But why is it women stress more than men. It's really not suppose to be that way. We have taken on WAY too much. It seems our gender is prone to worrying more, because we over think things. God knows how we work. That is why He stated that men are suppose to lead. That's right, the men! We have manipulated "the taken over of the reigns!" We are not suppose to be "wearing the pants." Now I know alot of women do not agree with me, but oh well. It is God's will for us to be submissive. His role for us as wives and the role of husbands, play hand in hand. And together, wow, what a difference it makes in a home. Now knowing this and having lived it, why is it so hard to get back there. I'm not really a control freak, but I do like knowing where things stand. And it seems so easy to hand things over to Our Father when I have no control over the situation. Or let my DH do it, when I can't or don't know how. It seems if I have a little bit of influence on how I think things should turn out, then I'll handle it.

Country Girl

I am most definitely a country girl. We went to Norfolk yesterday, made one wrong turn and OMG!!! It took us 1 1/2 HOURS to back on track and find the office. It didn't help that we were in rush hr traffic. I was STRESSED. Did we do any shopping, well, we did stop at Pet Smart. It was right off of Military Blvd. Not too bad. But I was just ready to get home. I sincerely hope this is the last time we have to do fingerprints or anything else, but go get Sophie.
